Owner Notes: Purebred Stallion Inspection Process

An overview of the inspection process for purebred stallions to achieve breeding privilege with IDHSNA. This document contains important information about x-ray requirements (which may be taken at age 3) and more.

Purebred Stallion Inspection X-Ray Package

List of Stallion X-rays required for purebred Irish Draught x-ray review which must be completed before inspections. This package contains instructions to the owner and veterinarian, list of required views and a report to be completed in full by the veterinarian. Also details on submission to the IDHSNA designated veterinarian for pre-reading and official reading.

Purebred Stallion Pre-Inspection Veterinary Packet

Includes cover letter and a four-page packet to be reviewed and completed by a veterinarian. The exam may be completed 90 days prior to inspection and must be submitted 3 weeks prior to the inspection.

Linear Scoring Chart for Purebreds

Inspectors use this form to assess horses. Each of the traits listed will be marked on a spectrum, in order to describe the horse. The center of the spectrum is not necessarily optimal.

This document is sent to the on-site veterinarian in advance of Inspections. It is provided here for transparency and to educate owners. Includes instruction and a sample form. Used for purebreds only.

PARTBRED PRE-INSPECTION STALLIONS

Lunging & Endoscopic Veterinary Exam

This form is required for partbred (sport horse) stallions. The endoscopic exam must be conducted by a licensed veterinarian either before (up to 90 days prior) or within 30 days after inspection.
